StepMelon is the step counter that replaces one pass-or-fail target with a Minimum, Target, and Stretch goal. Track on Apple Watch, iPhone, Android, or Wear OS, and plan up to two rest days without breaking your streak.
Quick answer
StepMelon gives you three customizable daily step goals—Minimum, Target, and Stretch—plus up to two planned rest days each week. The free app works on phones without a smartwatch and also supports Apple Watch and Wear OS.
StepMelon's flexible multiple-goal system lets you set three personal levels. The numbers below are editable examples, not recommendations:
A realistic baseline for your schedule
A normal-day level based on your recent history
An optional level for days with more walking opportunity
Start from your own recent history, then adjust each level when your schedule changes.
Plan up to 2 rest days per week without breaking your streak. Place them where lighter days fit your schedule, or use them when you simply want a day away from goal tracking.
Rest days are a flexible tracking choice, not medical guidance.

Everything you need to know about StepMelon
StepMelon is a step counter app for Apple Watch, iPhone, Android, and Wear OS. It tracks daily steps and lets you set three customizable goals: a minimum, a target, and a stretch level. It also includes built-in rest days, a watermelon-themed design, and optional Social features. Detailed fitness history is processed on your devices; if you opt into Social, StepMelon syncs the limited account, profile, relationship, and daily-summary data needed for the friends and private groups you choose.
Yes. StepMelon was originally built as a native Apple Watch app and runs on Apple Watch Series 4 and later (watchOS 10.0+). It includes watch face complications so you can see your step count directly on your watch face. The companion iPhone app adds analytics, weekly trends, smart insights, and data export.
Yes. StepMelon is available on Android phones (Android 9.0+) and Wear OS smartwatches (Wear OS 3.0+). The Android phone app works as a standalone step tracker using your phone's built-in motion sensors - no smartwatch required. If you have a Wear OS watch, it pairs automatically for wrist-based tracking.
StepMelon is free to download and use. The free version includes step tracking, 3 customizable goals, 2 rest days per week, basic step history, distance tracking, and widget support. Optional StepMelon Premium adds streaks, 19 achievement badges, daily challenges, seasonal events, pace notifications, smart insights, advanced themes, and layout customization. Current prices, billing periods, and any introductory offers are shown in your App Store or Google Play storefront before purchase.
StepMelon reads step data supplied by supported device sensors and platform health APIs. Accuracy can vary with the device, placement, movement, permissions, and sensor availability, so StepMelon does not guarantee a particular accuracy level.
Apple Health records steps but does not provide goal-setting with multiple tiers, built-in rest days, streak tracking, achievements, or daily challenges. StepMelon adds a motivation layer on top of your step data with 3 customizable goals (minimum, target, stretch), 2 weekly rest days that protect your streak, 19 achievement badges, daily challenges, and a fun watermelon theme. Think of it as the step tracking app Apple Health does not include.
Yes. Detailed fitness history is processed on your devices, and core tracking works without a StepMelon account. If you choose Social, the app securely syncs your account, profile, relationships, and daily fitness summaries so authorized friends and private groups can work. Privacy controls start closed. There is no data selling or advertising tracking.
No. Both the iPhone and Android phone apps can work as standalone step trackers using supported phone sensors and platform health APIs. A smartwatch is optional. If you have an Apple Watch or supported Wear OS watch, StepMelon can also use wrist-based step data.
