Getting Started with StepMelon

Requirements

StepMelon runs on Apple and Android devices. You only need one of the following:

Apple

Android

Installation

Apple Watch

  1. Open the App Store on your Apple Watch
  2. Search for "StepMelon"
  3. Tap "Get" or the download icon
  4. Wait for installation
  5. Tap "Open" or find StepMelon in your apps
  6. Grant the Motion & Fitness permission when prompted

iPhone

  1. Download StepMelon from the App Store
  2. Open the app and grant Motion & Fitness permission
  3. If you have an Apple Watch with StepMelon, the iPhone app syncs with it automatically
  4. No Apple Watch? No problem — the iPhone app tracks steps using your phone's built-in sensors

Android Phone

  1. Download StepMelon from Google Play
  2. Open the app and grant Activity Recognition permission
  3. Your phone starts counting steps immediately using its built-in sensors
  4. Optionally, pair a Wear OS watch for wrist-based tracking

Wear OS by Google

  1. Install StepMelon on your Android phone first (see above)
  2. Open the Play Store on your Wear OS watch
  3. Search for "StepMelon" and install
  4. The watch app syncs with your phone automatically

Using Your Phone as a Step Tracker

Both the iPhone and Android apps work as standalone step trackers — no smartwatch required. Your phone uses its built-in motion sensors to count steps throughout the day.

You get the same core features on your phone:

If you later add a smartwatch, it pairs seamlessly with the phone app.

Setting Your Goals

Your three goals:

To adjust goals:

  1. Tap the gear icon (Settings)
  2. Tap "Goals"
  3. Use the picker to set each goal
  4. Changes apply immediately across all your connected devices

Using Rest Days

You get 2 rest days per week (resets every Monday)

To take a rest day:

  1. Scroll down on the main screen
  2. Tap "Take Rest Day"
  3. Confirm

Your streak continues and goals don't count against you.
